Womens Health, Fertility and Pregnancy

I really enjoy helping women feel healthy. It seems a strange statement to make but I meet so many women who suffer unnecessarily with painful or irregular cycles that make them feel so miserable, to the point that they don't like all the things that make them women!

Acupuncture is a gentle and natural treatment that can rebalance a women's cycle so that menarche to menopause becomes a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Understanding you

Balance your cycle

A healthy menstrual cycle is very important in Chinese Medicine. Your monthly cycle should have a natural rhythm reflecting the flow of yin and yang; yin as the blood builds inside your uterus during the follicular phase, transforms into yang at ovulation and then yang in the luteal phase as your body either gets warm and ready to welcome new life or prepares to bleed and start the cycle over again.

For many women, their cycle can be a little out of balance causing irregularity or pain. By looking really closely at your menstrual cycle; how long it is, how regular and predictable, the quality of the menstrual blood, any pain and other symptoms such as PMS or headaches, we can get a really good picture of what's going on and how best to rebalance and restore health. Here are some of the common issues acupuncture can help with:

  • Irregular cycles, cycles that are 'too long' or 'too short'
  • Painful periods (dysmenorrhea)
  • Heavy periods (metorrhagia)
  • No periods (Amenorrhea)
  • PMS
  • Endometriosis and adenomyosis
  • Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Fibroids
  • Recurrent Infections, gynaecological pain

Chinese medicine aims to gently rebalance the natural cycle by treating the source of any imbalance so women can enjoy a healthy monthly period and improve their overall health.

Traditional Acupuncture & Fertility from British Acupuncture Council

We'd had 2 failed pregnancies and it just wasn't happening. It was frustrating but I knew we were going in the right direction. We conceived about 5 months later and now have a 21 month old daughter.
